Motorvation Tracker: Privacy Policy

This document was last updated on 27th April 2018 to ensure compliance with the new GDPR laws being introduced on the 25th May 2018. While our privacy policy already complies with the new GDPR laws, we've updated it to explain your rights regarding your data.

Concepts and Abbreviations

This privacy policy may contain abbreviations. Any abbreviations should be stated below for consistancy and accuracy.

General

This privacy policy may be changed at any time, but we will notify you via email and through the app if we change this privacy policy. The updates may be minor or major. As mentioned at the start, your device may not be holding the latest copy of the privacy policy and the latest copy should be downloaded from the Acidic Labs website ("https://acidiclabs.com/privacy/motorvation").

Should you have concerns or if you disagree with this privacy policy you must immediately close and remove the app from your device. You can contact us through our website if you have queries.

Use of your information

As a requirement for this application to work, we store information regarding you and your progress. This data is securely stored on a remote server. We store the following (the list may not contain everything, and not everything will apply for every type of user, e.g. we don't store the date of births for parents or work placement employers):

  1. Your full name
  2. Your username
  3. Your password (in an encrypted, one-way format)
  4. Your type of account
  5. Your date of birth
  6. Your profile picture
  7. Your title (for teachers and parents)
  8. A log of your activity on the application (every server request you make)
  9. Your grades and their respective details
  10. Your messages and their respective metadata
  11. Your posts and their respective metadata

We work under the Data Protection Act (1998) in order to ensure your data is kept and treated correctly.

Camera

This app uses the camera for the "Update your Profile Picture" feature. Images that are taken using this are securely uploaded to a remote, always-online server as part of the Acidic Labs "Motorvation API". By taking and submitting a photo using this feature in this app, you are allowing us to keep this photo on our servers for an unlimited period of time, and you are allowing this image to be used throughout the service. While only members (students, teachers, parents and work placement employers) will have access to the photos, they can be viewed by any of them. When you upload a new photo, it will replace and delete the previous profile picture on our servers. We reserve the right to remove this photo at any time for any reason.

In order to use the camera feature, the app will ask for consent. This consent is optional, but if you do not accept the app to use your camera, you will not be able to update your profile picture. However, you may send us a photo to use via the same email used on your account (for verification) and we may manually replace it. When we manually replace an image, and by sending us an image to use, you are allowing us to keep this photo on our servers for an unlimited period of time, and you are allowing this image to be used throughout the service. You can revoke consent to the use of the camera at any time using your phone's permission system (which is usually done through your phone's settings application).

Requesting your data
